Anthony McClaran has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the independent statutory authority that regulates and assures the quality of Australia’s large, diverse and complex higher education sector.
Since October 2009, Anthony has been Chief Executive of the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. QAA is the independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education. He was previously Chief Executive of the UK-based Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
A graduate in English and American Literature from the University of Kent, his career has covered numerous positions across the school and university sectors, including senior academic administration and management posts at the Universities of Warwick and Hull.
Anthony will take up his new role at TEQSA in mid-October.
